Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Sarah
Happy Birthday to you.

I can’t believe my daughter is a year old. The time has flown by faster than I could have thought possible.

Now she’s walking steadily, almost running after the dogs, going up stairs, talking on her toy phone just like her Mama does, going up to strangers and saying Hi, saying words that sound very much like “Thank You” and “Welcome” when we give or take things from her.

She’s still my favorite toy – the coolest thing I have ever had a part in. Someday, Sarah, when you get to read this, what you should get out of it is that your Daddy loves you.

If I Were To Steal

Been working on a new page design for the work website. I hate that it uses frames, flash, and font tags.

In my looking around, I found this:
http://www.stopdesign.com/log/2004/06/08/reloaded.html

What a beautiful page! The color scheme and layout make my mouth water. I want my page design to look that clean, and somehow it never does. I can’t quite quantify what separates mine from that, and I don’t want to ape it just for the sake of accomplishing it once – I want to be able to do it myself.

Maybe it’s mostly the photography/images themselves, but even the complimentary colors and lack of stark contrast but easily discernable differences in regions seem beyond me.

Of course, I’m stuck with #42775D. The “company color”. Everything’s already printed in it. And no web color scheme based on it looks good. So I revert to white, put the green on it, use orange for links/action items. #333 for text and I seem to have exhausted my creativity.

Anybody want to offer a design based on that color? Take pity on the poor programmer 🙂

Vacation: (n) Vay. kay. shun.

Definition: Time spent away from home, ostensibly to relax. In reality, you follow your wife’s orders, just like at home, but you sleep on an uncomortable bed.

Though I must admit, for kicks today my brother-in-law and I went to a gun shop and fired (well, he fired) a silenced 9mm a couple times. That was fun. :>>

I’m about tired of vacation. It’s time to go back home and sleep in my own bed, play with the dogs, mow the lawn, and eat food that was homemade, and is good. Instead of fast, and not.

I’m actually looking forward to going back to work. This hunched over the coffee table to use the computer thing is starting to suck.

Not sure I’ll post again from the South this trip. Tomorrow’s the family reunion, where I’ll eat like a terminal glutton, and the day after is the 1,000 mile drive back home. Ya. Hoo.
